August 2017: Stone Walks, Iceland. Dr. Stephanie Springgay and I (WalkingLab) will have a one month artist residency at Listhus Artist Centre in Olafsfjordur, Iceland to continue with our research on rocks as queer archives.
May 2017: I’m delivering the papers Queer Landscapes as a Queer Walking Practice; and Transmaterial Walking Methodologies and A Sound Art Project (co-authored by Dr. Stephaine Springgay); and Land and Consent: Disrupting Settler Futurities and Walking Research (co-authored by Dr. Stephanie Springgay), at the International Congress of Qualitative Research, IL.
April 2017: I’m delivering the paper Invisible Cities: Reading & Writing Speculative Fictions in High Schools, on the symposium Reconfiguring the imagined and real futures of educational research: The importance of being speculative, and co-authoring with Dr. Stephanie Springgay a response in the session Quantitative and Qualitative Methods are not Enough! The Ethics of Research Beyond Methodocentrism at the American Educational Research Association Annual Conference, San Antonio, TX.
April 1st 2017: WalkingLab has organized a fabulous walk on the Bruce Trail that includes pop-up lectures from geologists, activists, Indigenous scholars, and artistic interventions. As co-organizer I’ll be leading a section of the walk and giving a mini lecture on ‘Queering the Trail.’
